Personal project brief 2

Idea

My idea for this personal project is screate a short scene (aprox 1 minute lenght) in which includes a steady cam scene. This would mean, the camera will move around an environment in which the actors are not moving, and they are in the middle of an action. All the elements in those action (flying objects, water, smoke, and different simpe elements which re suspended in the air because of the aciton) are generated in 3D, integrated in the scene as 3DCGI, and placed in the scene by creating a camera 3D tracking. In this way, we will be able to screate the effect of time stop but adidng camea movement. We can say it would be like a 3D still image.

Concept

Behing a good idea it has to exist  agood concept. In order to make this feature visually powerful, we would ned to integrate it to a story and a context in which it would be reasonable to use this technique. The scene itself would have to have  action in order to be able to have more elements as possible. Some starting points which would be nice to develop would be:

  • Action scene
  • Scene in a busy and moving environment, in which we use the time stop in order to enhance the power of that movement, in order to
    • Show its power even when still, or
    • Value the still and silence

    • In this scene, we can see how they use a steady cam and they apply the 3D models of the elements to make the effect that the time is stopped. This principle is the same I would like to develop for my project, but integrated in a stonger context.

    • in this scene, we can see how they do this effect in an analogical way, usint plastic prothesis to make the models that I would like to make in 3D. Another curious feature of this scene, id how they introduce the time stop, by using a slow motion effect frim the beggining. Also, it is nice how they introduce the steady scenes, with the gun fire and the stop of the music. They apply this effect in the one that would be the most violent scene.

    • In this movie we can see the same resource, but without using 3D elements. Nevertheless, the Mise en scene of this movie is the most elegant one. Even with the steady actors, they can create a huge dramatism, transmitting really hard feelings and tension with no movement. This can be an important reference of composition, illumination and general aesthetic in order to

    • In this video, we can see a clear example of how this effect of moving the camera in a steayd environment can be efficiently used in order to narrate a story.
