Collaborative project | Color grading

The basic color grading process I did for all the shots is:

  • Sampling the white in order to do the white balance
  • Show the scopes and raise the highlights to the top, the shadows to the bottom and the midtones to adjust the general lighting
  • Adjust contrast, saturation, tone and temperature

I kept the tones not really saturated and a bit cool, in order to transmit the cold of the city and the situation itself.

We can see the difference in this shots.

When it comes to the green screen shots, grading becomes harder since the background and the foregound are prom different cameras, and they have different color settings.

The warmth and the dynamic range is not the same. So it is impossible to have both footages white balanced and it is hard to have them both good illuminated. It is mote notizable in the genral shots than in the closeups.
