Final Major Project | Theorical Breakdown

Concept

In this work, I would like to highlight the reaction of young people to contemporaneity. This contemporaneity is understood inside an hypermediated society context, which guidelines are the hedonism surrounded by the overinformation and overstimulation. Also, this reaction os focused in a target group of youngs, in a moment of the life in which, after getting independent and fly toward our life path, we face the freedom, and as a consequence of the new stimuli, we  we feel indomitable

Idea

In order to transmit this cosmology into a video piede, I decided to create a non-narrative piece, connected by this topic. The video will have three different parts:

  • The first mart will be the credits. They are going to be showcased using contemporary aesthetics as vaporwave, code, and advertising formats following the speed and overinformation. This part is made in order to present the artwork and put the audience in the mood of receiving a huge amount of visual information, so it can make it easier to assimilate the rest of the video.
  • The second part will be an animation to put in context the stage of the life we eant to speak with. This animation will showcase the process of being born, grow up surrounded from the love of your parents and protection of the house, to later leave it behing take off in the search of independence, discovering a new reality. In this way, we can create a sort of a story, in which the main character is the interpretation of the audience.
  • The third part, if after getting independent. This part will be recorded, using real footage full of visual effects. In this part, is showcased the feeling of being out of control in society, showing different situations with the participation of technology, big cities, capitalism, media, drugs, sex, and any feature connected with pleasure. The videos will have a really short duration, in order to be shown in speed and transmit the feeling of chaos. The videos will not be connected by a character, a place or a story, they will be visually connected following the technique od the exquisite corpse.

Techniques

Conceptual

  • Exquisite corpse: This is a surrealist creatin technique by which a collection of words of image sis collectively assembled. Each part is added independently in sequence as the continuation of the previous part, but knowing only the end of this one, and not the full message. In this way, we have a piece which has grammatical sense and is good connected, but has no linear meaning.
  • Symbolism: This technique encourages the use of symbols in order to represent things or ideas, and not representing them in a literal ans explicit ways.

Technical

  • Animation
  • Rotoscopy
  • Keying
  • Tracking
  • Motion Graphics
  • 3D CGI integration
