Scripts
For the next session with Vincent, we had to made up a story and present a storyboard.
Adrian, Anto and me wrote one script in order to present it to the group and choose which one to use for the assessment.
This the script I presented to the group.
After reading all the stories, we decided that the better solution was to create a story mixing elements from the three scripts. Therefore, we sketch a new idea of the story and we finally came out with our script, which was frist called Detuned, and then we decided to call it WOEM.
WOEM
Script
The story was made by all of us, but the script itself was written by Adrian. Here is the presentation of the script, made by Anto.
Mood board
We needed to do a mood board which is a compilation of images which can be used as an image reference for our work. Zinab was the one in charge to collect the pictures for the different scenes, object, actions and characters, and Anto collect them together in the presentation.
Storyboard
Finally, we only needed to do the storyboard. In this part, we could start to think about the shots that we wanted, the camera movements and the mood of each scene.
We sat together to sketch the whole story, and Anto did the final sketches with his computer. Then, he sent to me the images and I built the storyboard in premiere, adding some camera movements and sounds. This exercise was really positive in order to start seeing the story in a clearer way, and also to be aware to perceive the timing of the story.
This was the first version of the Storyboard.
After this version I got the following corrections from the group.
- Change the last to images in order to finish with the cat having the tuna, because we thoguht it would be more effective.
- Put the title at the end.
- Put the title of all the actions.
- Add the sound of the skate when it lands.
After this minor corrections, this was the last version of the Storyboard that we presented to Vincent in this second session.
Feedback
The feedback of Vincent was really positive. He liked that we added sound in the storyboard and also that we gave a name to our main character, Jefferson.
He said it was important to have a feeling with the story and the character, because by getting engaged with them we would be more able to tell the story min an efficient way.
Finally, he gave us some tips about framing and lenses in order to apply for the next task.
Task
For the next session, we will be given a scenario, the streets of New York, and some block models to work in Maya. From there, we will need to create the whole environment and the whole action. Then, we will need to create the camara, add the movement, and export them as a playblast, saving them as our shots.
Finally, we will need to mix all the shots together in order to do the editing.
We divided the work in this way:
- Environment and blocking animation: Anto and Zinab
- Cameras: Adrian, with my help in designing the shots.
- Editing: Myself
